The Rogers Mansion contains a research library dedicated to the history of Southampton and its surrounding areas. The library currently contains over 800 volumes, including town records, histories of local communities, books on whaling, agriculture and resort life, all subjects relevant to the history of the town and the region. In addition, the museum subscribes to numerous journals devoted to Long Island, New York State and New England history.

Document files include extensive collections of whaling logs, deeds, family histories and genealogies, cemetery records, historic district reports and more. The library’s archives include:


  •  minutes of societies
  •  account books
  •  photographs and postcards
  •  scrapbooks and family memorabilia
  •  maps


Research must be done with the help of a research assistant and should be done by appointment.

Museum members may research for free.
